The opening of the 8th ETHNOSPORT FORUM, an annual event organized by the World Ethnosport Union (WEU), an international organization chaired by Necmeddin Bilal Erdogan, is just a few days away. The event will be held on April 4th and 5th in Antalya, Turkey, with the aim of shaping the future of traditional sports and preserving cultural heritage. This globally significant event will serve as a platform for taking strategic steps towards the sustainability of ethnic sports within the framework of the principles of tradition, respect, solidarity, and peace. During the Forum, several panels will be organized on the theme “The Revival of Traditional Sports.” Experts from 29 countries, including academics, federation representatives, and researchers, will discuss topics such as the potential for international cooperation in traditional sports, financial sustainability, and media strategies. Representing Italy will be Vittorio Giorgi, president of the Italian Federation of Kurash and Traditional Wrestling, a member of the World Ethnosport Union. There will also be a Round Table of Sports Ministers from various countries. The Forum will officially present “ETHNOSPORTS 2027,” a new format for traditional sports and games that will be held every four years, starting next year. Finally, the names of the experts selected from numerous candidates to serve on the Technical Commissions that will work on “ETHNOSPORTS 2027” will be announced.
